INGRID LUKAS
Early Life and Education
Ingrid Lukas is an Estonian-Swiss singer-songwriter, pianist, and bandleader. Born in 1984 in Estonia, she moved to Switzerland at 10. She later completed a master's degree in jazz and popular singing at the Zurich University of the Arts and a second master’s degree in music therapy at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Musical Career and Global Presence
As a singer and musician, Ingrid has released five albums and performed in numerous concerts across Europe, South Korea, the Caribbean Islands, and the USA. She enjoys great recognition in her native Estonia and, when not traveling the world’s stages, lives and works in Zurich. Beyond composing, writing, and performing her music internationally, Ingrid is also active as a voice and music coach, as well as a music therapist. Together with her musical partner and fellow music therapist, Diandra Russo, she developed the “Listen Up” workshops.
A Unique Sound –
Blending Tradition and Modernity
Since the beginning of her career, Ingrid Lukas has created her distinctive sound, moving between folk, pop, and electronic music. She blends traditional and modern elements with lyrics that reflect on life’s attitudes and emotions. Her unique perspective brings universal themes to life. In her musically rich world, everything is interconnected: her Nordic roots, which emerge in Estonian folk songs, merge with contemporary song structures and beat cultures, forming a hypnotic ambient indie pop sound. Ingrid’s music is continuously evolving—each album is distinct, yet together they create a coherent emotional and dramaturgical journey.
Critical Acclaim
Kath from Sound-A-Word in Estonia describes Ingrid Lukas' music as follows:
“A celestial sound experience was the show of the Estonian-Swiss singer, pianist, and composer, Ingrid Lukas. She has created a unique blend of tradition and modernity. Her music is somewhere between pop, folk, and electronica, combining Nordic roots, Estonian folk songs, and modern electro-pop. Her show was full of flowing rhythms, melancholy, spiritual groove, and cosmic vocals. Heavenly!”
